Auto Electrical Services — Stourbridge & Surrounding Areas

Everything below is done at your address — home or work. Cars and vans. We bring the diagnostic gear and the parts that commonly fail, so most jobs are finished in one visit.

Auto electrical fault diagnosis and fault finding

Most jobs start here. Something electrical is misbehaving and nobody's told you why. We connect to the vehicle, read the live data and the fault codes, then test the circuit properly with a meter and a scope to find where it's actually going wrong.

A fault code tells you which circuit is unhappy. It does not tell you which part to buy — that's the bit people get wrong, and it's how you end up paying for a sensor that was fine all along. We trace it back to the cause: the broken wire, the corroded earth, the dry joint, the failing module.

If another garage has already had a go and got nowhere, that's a normal Tuesday for us. Tell us what's been changed already so we don't cover the same ground twice.

Sounds like your car?

  • Engine management, ABS or airbag light on
  • Battery goes flat overnight or over a weekend
  • Something works cold and stops when it's hot
  • Intermittent faults that never happen at the garage
  • Blowing the same fuse again and again
  • A fault somebody else has already failed to find

£70 covers up to 2 hours on site — diagnosis, repair or both. No diagnosis, no fee

Wiring and loom repairs

Wiring fails in predictable places. Looms chafe where they pass through a bulkhead. Earths corrode where they bolt to the body. Tailgate and door looms snap where they flex, thousands of times, through the hinge. And rodents will chew through anything they can reach in an engine bay over winter.

We repair it properly: correct gauge cable, soldered and heatshrunk joints, connectors replaced rather than bodged, and the repair loomed and secured so it isn't back in six months. No scotch locks. No insulation tape wrapped round a twisted pair and left to it.

We also get called out to clean up other people's work — a stereo, towbar or camera installed badly that's now causing faults somewhere else entirely.

Sounds like your car?

  • Lights, wipers or windows working when they feel like it
  • Rodent damage in the engine bay
  • Boot, tailgate or door wiring faults
  • A previous installation that's caused new problems
  • Green, crusty or broken earth points
  • Fuses that keep blowing on one circuit

Covered by the first 2 hours on site where it fits, then £55 an hour

Alternators, starters, batteries and charging faults

Won't crank. Won't start. Battery light on. Battery keeps dying. These three get blamed for each other constantly — a perfectly good battery gets replaced when the alternator is at fault, or a starter goes on when the real problem was an earth strap costing a few pounds.

We test the charging system before anything gets bought: battery condition under load, alternator output across the rev range, voltage drop on the feeds and earths, and the current draw when the car is locked and asleep. Then you get told what actually needs replacing.

We carry common batteries, and alternators and starters for a lot of popular cars and vans, so there's a fair chance we can supply and fit on the same visit.

Sounds like your car?

  • Turns over slowly, or just clicks
  • Battery warning light on while you're driving
  • Needs a jump start most mornings
  • New battery fitted and it's still going flat
  • Headlights dimming at idle
  • Stop/start has given up

Quoted per job — ring us with the make and model

Parking sensors, reversing cameras, dashcams and trackers

Supplied and fitted, or fit-only if you've already bought the kit. Either is fine — just tell us which when you ring.

Everything is hardwired and hidden. Cables run behind trim and headlining, power taken from a proper fused source, and dashcams wired to a permanent live so parking mode actually works. No cigarette lighter lead dangling across the dash, no cable taped along the door seal.

Trackers get wired in discreetly — not left plugged into the OBD port, where the first person who looks for it will find it and pull it out.

Typical fixed prices

  • Dashcam hardwire — front, or front and rear
  • Reversing camera with dash or mirror screen
  • Front or rear parking sensors, painted to match
  • Covert vehicle trackers
  • Fitting a kit you've bought yourself

Dashcam hardwire £70–90 · Tracker £90–120 · Camera or sensors £120–180

Towbar and trailer electrics

Towing electrics done properly, whether it's a new socket on a bar that came without one, or a set of trailer lights that have never worked right.

We fit 7-pin and 13-pin sockets using dedicated wiring kits where they exist for your vehicle, with a bypass relay when the car needs one so the lighting system doesn't start throwing bulb-failure warnings at you. On modern cars this matters: splicing straight into the rear lights on a canbus lighting circuit will give you fault lights and, sometimes, a very expensive module.

We also fault-find on existing setups — trailers, caravans, plant trailers and horseboxes where the lights are dead, dim, or lighting up the wrong side.

What we do

  • 7-pin and 13-pin socket fitting
  • Dedicated vehicle-specific wiring kits
  • Bypass relays and canbus-safe installs
  • Trailer and caravan lighting fault finding
  • Corroded socket and plug replacement
  • Fridge and charge feeds for caravans

7-pin towbar electrics £90–130

Van and commercial vehicle electrics

A van off the road costs money every hour it's sat there, which is exactly why a mobile auto electrician makes more sense than a garage booking you in three days out. We come to the yard, the depot, or the job.

We work on everything from a sole trader's Transit to small fleets: charging and starting faults, wiring repairs, reversing cameras and sensors, beacons and work lights, bulkhead and load area lighting, split charge systems and leisure batteries, inverters, tail lift electrics and towing gear.

If you run several vehicles, ring us — it's usually easier all round if we come out once and do the lot.

What we do

  • Charging, starting and battery faults
  • Reversing cameras and parking sensors
  • Beacons, work lights and load area lighting
  • Split charge systems, leisure batteries, inverters
  • Tail lift and towing electrics
  • Racking and conversion wiring

Priced as above, by job type

Not sure which of those it is?

You don't need to know — working that out is the job. Describe what the vehicle's doing and we'll take it from there. A photo of the warning light or the offending connector on WhatsApp helps more than you'd think.
